Asplundh Recognized with Employer Award for Outstanding Commitment to Opportunity and Workforce Inclusion

Under the leadership of Quincy Thomas, General Foreperson, Asplundh has gone above and beyond in partnering with DRS to provide On-the-Job Training (OJT), giving job seekers the chance to build marketable skills, gain confidence, and secure full-time employment with competitive pay and benefits.
What makes Asplundh stand out is their ongoing commitment to employee development and success, even under challenging circumstances. While navigating hurricanes, floods, severe snowstorms, and electrical outages, Asplundh continued to train and support DRS job seekers, ensuring they were not only included but also set up for success. This dedication was rewarded when a DRS job seeker, recognized for their hard work, received strong evaluations and a pay raise—evidence of Asplundh’s commitment to acknowledging effort and achievement.
The skills developed through this work have been transformative. By contributing to emergency response during natural disasters, clients have not only built their physical strength and job skills but also gained confidence and financial independence. Asplundh’s clear communication of expectations and supportive workplace culture give new hires every opportunity to succeed.
As nominator Russell Hazelwood noted, “They have offered our clients competitive pay, training for marketable skills, and full-time employment with benefits. They are supportive of their employees and the opportunities they provided have been life-changing and positive for clients they’ve hired.”
Through their partnership with DRS, Asplundh has proven that inclusive hiring strengthens both the workforce and the community, making them a deserving recipient of the Beckley District 2025 Employer Award
