The West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) recognized Asplundh in Beckley as a diversity trailblazer employer and partner as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October 2024.
DRS recognized Asplundh for demonstrating ongoing leadership in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in its hiring practices and workplace and for its constant positive contributions within our communities.
Asplundh has a long-standing partnership with DRS, providing three DRS consumers with on-the-job training opportunities to ensure these individuals were equipped with the necessary skills to be successful. These consumers ultimately obtained full-time employment with the company with full benefits and opportunities for advancement. Each consumer has already earned a pay raise and hopes to continue long-term employment with the company.
Nominated by DRS Rehabilitation Counselor Anna Stover, Asplundh is a supportive and valued partner by providing employment opportunities to include people with disabilities in their workforce.
DRS, an agency of the West Virginia Department of Commerce, is responsible for the federal vocational rehabilitation program in West Virginia, which enables and empowers West Virginians with disabilities to work and to live independently. DRS helps people with disabilities, ages 14 and up, set work goals and develop career plans to overcome employment-related barriers so they can go to work or maintain current employment. DRS also assists West Virginia’s businesses and employers by being their primary employment resource to include or to retain people with disabilities in their workforce.
