The West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) recognized Blenko Glass in Milton as an exemplary employer and partner as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October 2023.
DRS recognized Blenko Glass for demonstrating excellence in its diverse hiring practices by creating an inclusive workplace and for its positive contributions within our communities.
Blenko Glass hired one DRS consumer through DRS’ on-the-job training program and has served as a training site for several students participating in work-based learning opportunities, which provides hands-on, job-related skills training in a real work environment.
Nominated by DRS Senior Rehabilitation Counselor Veronica Bunch, Blenko Glass has been an employer dedicated to helping DRS consumers learn and build new skills. They focus on assisting consumers to progress in their training and accommodating those who need further development so they can succeed.
DRS, an agency of the West Virginia Department of Commerce, is responsible for the federal vocational rehabilitation program in West Virginia, which enables and empowers West Virginians with disabilities to work and to live independently. DRS helps people with disabilities, ages 14 and up, set work goals and develop career plans to overcome employment-related barriers so they can go to work or maintain current employment. DRS also assists West Virginia’s businesses and employers by being their primary employment resource to include or to retain people with disabilities in their workforce.
