DRS recognizes West Virginia University Medicine in Morgantown as a Diversity Trailblazer

The West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) recognized WVU Medicine in Morgantown as a diversity trailblazer employer and partner as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October 2024.

DRS recognized WVU Medicine for demonstrating ongoing leadership in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in its hiring practices and workplace and for its constant positive contributions within our communities.

WVU Medicine has a long-standing partnership with DRS, where a senior human resources recruiter makes himself available to DRS consumers for mock job interviewing experiences, résumé evaluation assistance and to review vacancies on their website. WVU Medicine is also the business partner and host training site for the Project SEARCH program, which is a job training program for DRS consumers with the ultimate goal of employment for participants.

Nominated by DRS Employment Specialist Jamie Paulhamus, WVU Medicine is a supportive and valued partner by providing employment opportunities to include people with disabilities in their workforce.

DRS, an agency of the West Virginia Department of Commerce, is responsible for the federal vocational rehabilitation program in West Virginia, which enables and empowers West Virginians with disabilities to work and to live independently. DRS helps people with disabilities, ages 14 and up, set work goals and develop career plans to overcome employment-related barriers so they can go to work or maintain current employment. DRS also assists West Virginia’s businesses and employers by being their primary employment resource to include or to retain people with disabilities in their workforce.
